Olgoj Chorchoj: Logic of Emotion

Designers and architects Michal Froněk and Jan Němeček have founded their studio - named Olgoj Chorchoj - in 1990. Since 2000 they are the directors of the Atelier of Product Design on the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. In the Czech and global context olgoj Chorchoj belongs to the top of their domain. The book introduces the professional career of Olgoj Chorchoj in the area of design, architecture, exhibition in the form of original essays and through the complete list of their realizations. The production of Olgoj Chorchoj in the years 1990-2016 is symptomatic for the introduction of a wider range of postcomunist transformation (in the area of practical design, art education, factory manufacturing and restart of the capitalist market economy). On the level of history and design theory the activity of Olgoj Chorchoj is remarkable of the early inclination towards emotive post-modernism and later sway towards simple, logical principles of neomodernism. The publication is published at the occasion of a retrospective exhibition organized in Museum of Applied Arts of Moravian Gallery in Brno (9. 12. 2016–16. 4. 2017). Authors of the texts are Tulga Beyerle, Andrea Březinová, David Crowley, Michael Horsham, Lada Hubatová-Vacková, Rostislav Koryčánek, Adam Štěch, Petr Volf, Jan Wollner.
